Description
Carafate can be used for the treatment of duodenal ulcers. Carafate cannot be used for long time. This medication is indicated for the treatment of intestine ulcers.
You must be cautious with this medication if you have kidney problem, allergic reactions, pregnant and breast-feeding.
Carafate is produced in capsules. Usually it is given in a dose of one capsule a day. You must take it with water. Do not chew or crash it. If you miss a dose take next one. Do not take double.
Carafate interacts with ampicillin, digoxin, iron salts, diazepam, phenytoin, thyroid hormones, ranitidine and warfarin. If you have treatment course with this medication you must tell your doctor about it.
Carafate can give side effects like headache, stomach upset, gas, dry mouth, trouble sleeping, and back pain, constipation. If you have these side effects you must visit your doctor.
