Arimidex (Anastrozole) is an approved medicine used to cope with breast cancer in women who have gone through their menopause.
It is an aromatase inhibitor which can stop tumors developing on estrogen growth by blocking estrogen production. Before you take Arimidex you should have a proper consultation with a health care specialist. They should inquire if you have any of the following conditions: liver disease, any allergic reactions to medicines or foods. Breast-feeding and pregnancy are the conditions when you are not supposed to take this medicine. You should take it exactly as directed on the prescription label. Provide your physician a full list of all other medications and drugs you take, either prescribed or non-prescribed as some of those can interact with female hormones, birth control pills, tamoxifen. Among other side effects there may happen loss of appetite, headache, hot flushes, diarrhea or constipation, back pain, weakness.
