Fluoxetine
Fluoxetine is an antidepressant medicine which comes from a group of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It can be prescribed to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a severe form of premenstrual syndrome, depression or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Fluoxetine can also be used to treat bulimia nervosa and panic disorder, and some other medical conditions.
This medicine helps to restore the serotonin balance in the brain, and it improves mood disorders.
Before taking fluoxetine tell your doctor if you have any of the following symptoms or conditions: liver or kidney disorder, diabetes, epilepsy, so that they can decide if you can take the medicine or you need an individual dosage. Fluoxetine cannot be taken with such drugs as pimozide, thioridazine (Mellaril), an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), or selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam).
Make sure to talk to your health care professional if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breast-feeding. Fluoxetine can cause fetal and baby harm.

The most common side effects (but not necessarily happening to everybody who takes fluoxetine) include cold symptoms (like cold, running nose, sore throat), upset stomach, insomnia, weight changes. Your pharmacist can tell your more about other side effects.
